The company Palatina GeoCon GmbH & Co. KG is engaged in the exploration, extraction, field development and the marketing of hydrocarbons.
Palatina discovered a crude oil deposit at a depth of 2,400 m in Speyer (Rhineland-Palatinate) and has the concession to extract hydrocarbons in the “Römerberg” field. For the exploration of crude oil in the “Römerberg” field Palatina cooperates with the company Gaz de France Produktion Exploration Deutschland GmbH (GDF PEG) as partner of a consortium. Gaz de France PEG has taken over a share of 50% of the licence held by Palatina.
For the exploration of the crude oil deposit „Römerberg“ an exploration drilling was executed by DrillTec under the operating control of Gaz de France PED. The exploration project “Römerberg” is carried out in close cooperation with the federal state Rhineland-Palatinate, the State Office for geology and mining Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz (Germany) and the city of Speyer. Palatina sets great importance to a professional and environmentally-friendly extraction of the crude oil deposit.
The drilling work started in October 2007 after receiving official permission.
