The MAX STREICHER GmbH & Co. KG aA carried out four crossings in the trenchless microtunnelling method within the work at the MIDAL-Süd Loop. For the crossing of the motorway A 66 and the country road 3372 located behind the motorway, STREICHER used a special solution. The total drilling length of this crossing was 116 meters. Reinforced concrete pipes with a length of two to three meters are normally used within the microtunnelling method. The pipes of the MIDAL-Süd Loop have a length of 18 meters. To reach a corresponding shot length, the press carriage was modified and the start excavation adapted accordingly. After the successful use of the new microtunnelling rig on the STREICHER building lot the company was commissioned with another two crossings on the neighboring building lot 2 of the MIDAL-Süd Loop. These two drillings with lengths of 88 and 107 meters are also carried out with the modified microtunnelling method. It is planned to complete work in October 2013.
