Complex Road Construction on a Slope – STREICHER Jena is Expanding the B92 Near Oelsnitz/Vogtland

Since mid-2024, various departments of STREICHER Tief- und Ingenieurbau Jena GmbH & Co. KG have been working together on a complex road construction project near the town of Oelsnitz in the Vogtland region.

The project involves colleagues from the bridge, pipework and asphalt construction departments at the Jena location, as well as the road and civil engineering department at the Oelsnitz branch. On behalf of the State Office for Road Construction and Transport – Plauen branch – they are resurfacing and widening a 1.1-kilometre section of the B92 in the south-east of the Saxon district town.

STREICHER is completely rebuilding the previously narrow, winding and blind-spot-prone route and adding an overtaking lane. In addition, the Elster cycle path, which currently runs along the upper section of the B92, is being extended to the junction with the district road, and bus stops, pavements and a pedestrian crossing are being redesigned. By the end of 2025, more than half of the new route had already been completed; further work has been ongoing since March 2026.
