Large-scale projects are being implemented simultaneously in several polders on both sides of the river. Whilst the final work on the sluice culvert to ensure internal drainage is being completed in the Offenberg-Metten polder, work is ongoing in the Sulzbach polder, including the construction of the new Sulzbach II pumping station as well as dyke reinforcements and raising works over a total length of 2.1 kilometres.
Projects are also progressing on the opposite bank of the Danube: in the Steinkirchen polder, a complex inlet and outlet structure is being built for the controlled flooding and draining of the retention area, with completion scheduled for 2028. At the same time, the project in the Sand-Entau polder is already in its final stages. Here, in addition to new sections of dyke, key infrastructure such as the SR 12 local road was completed ahead of schedule. Further dyke construction and waterproofing works are due to follow in 2026, meaning that this phase of construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
