Safe driving pleasure on steep slopes

In December 2020 our youngest subsidiary Mountain Innovations GmbH was able to complete its first reference project successfully – in Bad Kleinkirchheim, Carinthia (Austria), the so-called Kaiserburg Bob is now able to zoom down an 800 m long and winding route into the valley.

Know-how and manpower from various departments and areas at the Deggendorf / Deggenau site were incorporated into the planning, construction and assembly of the roller-bob run. There were a number of challenges to be mastered in both construction and implementation – for example, when deploying the work equipment and the heavy material on steep terrain.

The new roller bobsleigh track offers space for around 350 passengers per hour. From the valley station of the Kaiserburgbahn in Bad Kleinkirchheim, the oller bobs are pulled up a steep slope for approx. 600 m. At a speed of up to 40 km / h – which the passenger can individually influence using the brake lever – the journey descends into the valley. The route has an average gradient of 24 percent. Together with tight curve radii and a tornado construction that wraps around 450 degrees at the end of the course, an unprecedented driving experience on the mountain is conveyed. The official opening of the roller bob run is planned for the first half of 2021.
