UIC builds world's largest short path evaporator

At the customer's request, UIC developed, designed, built and delivered the world's largest short path evaporator with 80 m² of wiped heating surface. It is part of a distillation plant.

Key data:

  • 80 m² wiped heating surface
  • 16 m total height
  • 70 m³ total volume
  • 78 bar design pressure
  • 2.6 m internal diameter
  • 12,500 individual parts

Large short path evaporators are used in the polymer, lactic acid, fish oil and edible oil industries. Typical applications include the separation of pesticides, monomers, mineral oil residues and heavy distillates with dark colouring.

It has now been installed at the customer's site, together with other process-relevant components of the distillation plant and has been put into operation.
