Exploration and Extraction of Hydrocarbons

The company Palatina GeoCon GmbH & Co. KG focuses on the exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons.

In 2003,  a crude oil deposit at a depth of 2,400 m, the so called „Römerberg“ in Speyer (Rhineland-Palatinate), was discovered. Palatina has the concession to exploit and extract hydrocarbons in the "Römerberg" field, respectively Römerberg-Speyer. For the exploration of crude oil and further development of the deposit in the "Römerberg" field, Palatina cooperates with the company Neptune Energy Deutschland GmbH (Lingen/Germany). Neptune is the operation manager of this consortium.

Since 2008, at two operation sites in the North of Speyer several drillings have been executed, among others by DrillTec GUT GmbH Großbohr- und Umwelttechnik and successfully have extracted oil ever since. All activities are carried out in close cooperation with and under control of the responsible mining authority, the State Office for geology and mining Rhineland-Palatinate.
